Ep. 30 - [BONUS] Talking to Young Kids About Politics and Parenting During the Election

Today I decided to put my typical interview format to the side and instead bring to you all a special and timely bonus episode in honor of Election Day. This episode is straight real talk and pieced together based on voice texts from a handful of mom friends, so please excuse the audio quality and raw editing.

In this episode, I brought on a few of my mommy friends all from various backgrounds to share what they will be doing as parents today on Election Day 2020 with their children and how they plan to talk to their children about politics, the election and what today is all about.

I texted them the following 5 questions and had them respond via voice text.

  1. What is your name, kids ages and background?

  2. What are you doing with your children on Election Day?

  3. How has becoming a parent changed your views or engagement with the political arena?

  4. If your kids ask you about the election (ex. what you are doing? watching? why you’re crying? happy? etc.), what message will you give to your children?

  5. Do you have any tips, tools, resources or just advice that you would recommend to help fellow parents navigate the delicacies of political conversations, whether it be with other parents, at school, other mommy friends, etc…?

Go VOTE!!! Your vote matters!!!
